Supercharge your water

Lets talk water. We all know we have to get enough of it, but still so many people don't. That's why today I want to write about hydration. It's of number 1 importance (next to clean air) to health and longevity.

Here are some simple tricks as to how you can pimp up your water. Staying hydrated plays a major role in your overall health and research is showing that a large number of the population are chronically dehydrated. To make sure you get enough water within a day I have listed up some tricks to make your water juicier. Your daily dose can be a perfect vessel for superfoods, supplements and it can look and smell beautiful too.

Hosting detox retreats, I've seen, surprising though it may seem, many people aren't in love with drinking water. Rest assured, there are so many ways to give your water a boost that makes drinking it easier and yummier.

Lemon Water

Yes, I know you've heard it tons of times before. A squeeze of lemon in your water is good for you.

But hey, it's only good for you if you actually do it! My point is this; so many know already what is good for them, yet still they don't do it. Keep it simple and make this into your daily routine.

For good! Its so easy to implement, and you really don't have any good excuse not to.

Sea Salt Tonic

Add a tablespoon of lime juice plus a teaspoon of sea salt to your water. Freshen it all up with some green mint leaves.

While everyone is panicking about salt and that you should stay away from it - we do actually need it!

You need to get the high quality salt and stay away from the toxic, chemical, bad table salts.

So let's say this: You've had your 2 to 3 litres of water a day, just like they advised you, and then you got dehydrated? Why is that? Why does that occur? It can be that you did not have a good source of natural, full-spectrum, original salt from the earth for electrolytes that holds the moisture in your body.

What can happen if you don't get enough salt? Your cells will become bloated, will expand and that's what then happens to you also.

You need water and salt. We need water to be hydrated, and we need salt to be hydrated. Too much of either, we get dehydrated. To little of either, we get dehydrated. Sodium is an electrolyte, and it helps support adrenal function. All the cells in the body need salt to properly do their job. In my opinion, it does not make sense to talk about water without talking about salt.

Chia Water

Soak 3 tablespoons of chia seeds in your glass of water for 10 minutes then drink. It gives you a boost of omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, and antioxidants. If you are not used to eating them it can be a bit strange in the start. They look and have the texture of tiny tadpole eggs and taste almost like nothing. But they are super healthy and your body loves them. Remember to soak them first otherwise they will expand in your gut and suck up the moisture rather than releasing it!

Goopglow Morning Skin Superpowder

A power shot of six potent antioxidants to support healthy, glowing skin. Just mix the powder with water, stir, and it tastes amazing too. This supplement is designed to give your complexion extra support and it provides a strong dose of helpful ingredients and antioxidants, which work together to fight skin-sabotaging free radicals.

Here is the magic list of this super booster:

And the next one is my favourite:

Shakara Beauty and Detox Water Concentrate

This is personally my favourite hydration aid and I make sure to have a bottle with me when my man and I travel to host retreats. You can add a few drops of the Shakara Lifes Beauty Water Concentrates to your H2O. Rose is both anti-inflammatory and soothing to the nervous and endocrine systems. The silica in the blend is said to help skin stay extra hydrated. Silica is also known as “the beauty mineral” because it plumps the cells by helping them soak up water, giving you a smooth, even, youthful complexion.

It also supports collagen production and helps the body form connective tissue, to keep skin glowing with vitality and help ensure your hair and nails are strong and healthy.

Chlorophyll is a plant pigment, and a powerful, antioxidant-rich, activator that enables plants to convert sunlight into usable energy. When introduced into your body, chlorophyll binds to toxins and heavy metals and ushers them out of there. It also engulfs your body in oxygen, improving circulation and encouraging a more rapid, cell rejuvenation. This in turn boosts your energy and supports your body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Magnesium is involved in more than 300 biological processes in the body; it particularly helps to improve digestion, encourages elimination regularity and toxin removal and regulates the body’s stress response.

I could go on and on about this supplement. Point is - just get it!

There are so many fun things we can add to our water to make the day more colourful and as some of the options above might be a little pricey, most of the other ones you can find in your garden or your local supermarket.

Nettle Leaf and Raspberry Leaf

Infuse your water with the magic healing of nature. Many know about the healing properties of nettles but few use the leaf of the raspberry, but it's full of antioxidants. If you have them in your garden, make sure to fill your water bottle with these beauties.

Beauty Tonic

Combine equal parts nettle leaf and raspberry leaf in a large jar, then pour in hot water. Leave it for about three hours, then remove the leaves. I like to add some lemon, fresh raspberries and wild strawberries in there too. If you want a sweeter taste add a few drops of vanilla stevia.

Flavoured Water

And last but not least, cutting fresh fruits and veggies and adding them into the water is always a winner. And it looks so beautiful too. You can also add in different berries and herbs to boost your H2O. Play with it and have fun. That can never go wrong!
